Your smile now shines brighter than ever! To maintain those spectacular results, follow this ‘White Diet’ guide and essential care tips.
What is the White Diet?
After whitening, the enamel surface is temporarily more porous and susceptible to absorbing pigments. The ‘White Diet’ consists of consuming light-colored foods to prevent your teeth from staining.
Recommended duration: Minimum 48-72 hours, ideally 5-7 days for best results
Golden rule: ‘If it can stain a white shirt, it can stain your teeth’
The First Hours
Immediate care after treatment
- Wait before eating: Don’t consume food or drinks for the first 2 hours after in-office whitening.
- Temporary sensitivity: It’s normal to feel sensitivity to cold or heat. It disappears in 24-48 hours. Avoid extreme temperatures.
- Stay hydrated with water: Water is your best ally. Drink plenty of plain water to keep your mouth clean and teeth hydrated.
- Protect your investment: Results depend largely on the care you take in the first few days. The effort is worth it!

About Tobacco
Tobacco is the BIGGEST enemy of your whitening. Smoking can ruin results in a matter of days. Nicotine and tar yellow teeth quickly.
If you smoke, this is an excellent time to consider quitting. Your smile (and health) will thank you.
Tooth Sensitivity
It’s normal and temporary
Many patients experience sensitivity after whitening. This happens because the product penetrates the enamel to whiten.
- Use toothpaste for sensitive teeth
- Avoid very cold or hot foods and drinks
- Sensitivity usually lasts 24-48 hours
- If it’s intense, you can take a pain reliever
- If it persists more than 3 days, contact us
How Long Do Results Last?
Whitening results can last 1 to 3 years, depending on:
- Your eating habits
- Whether you smoke or not
- Your daily oral hygiene
- Genetic factors
- Coffee, tea or wine consumption
We recommend a touch-up every 6-12 months to maintain optimal results.
Long-Term Care
To keep your smile bright longer
- Impeccable hygiene: Brush 3 times a day and floss. A clean mouth stays whiter.
- Professional cleaning: Schedule a dental cleaning every 6 months to remove surface stains.
- Moderate coffee and tea: If you consume them, use a straw and rinse with water afterward.
- Don’t smoke: Tobacco is the #1 cause of yellow teeth. Avoid it completely.
- Drink water: After every meal, water helps remove residue and pigments.
- Periodic touch-ups: Consider a whitening touch-up every year to maintain the brightness.
