No, the permanent crown is done in a separate appointment. Most root canals are resolved in 1 or 2 visits with our specialist, and then you will need another visit for the final restoration.
Yes, it is highly recommended. A tooth that has had a root canal becomes more fragile and needs a proper restoration (usually a crown) so it doesn't fracture when you chew.
If a previously treated canal fails, whether it was done here or at another clinic, we offer root canal retreatment. Our specialist cleans and seals the canals again, in 90-minute appointments.
You must wait 2 to 4 hours for the anesthesia to wear off before eating. Also, you should not bite down on the treated tooth until the final restoration is placed.
It is normal to experience some discomfort or sensitivity when biting during the first few days, which should decrease daily. If the pain increases after day 2 or 3, please let us know.
We will tell you which pain relievers or anti-inflammatories to take. If antibiotics are prescribed, it is essential that you complete the full cycle.
The cost depends on the tooth and on what we find at your exam, so it is given at your evaluation: you get a written treatment plan as a PDF with the cost of each step, and nothing is done until you approve it.
